Event description
This course would be appropriate for newly appointed SENCOs, or as a refresher course for more experienced SENCOs, and Childminders. “Providers must have arrangements in place to support children with SEN or disabilities…. And must have regard to the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Code of Practice.” (EYFS Statutory Framework, page 29) As a new SENCO, the SEND Code of Practice can appear to be daunting and challenging. This half-day course will help you to develop your understanding of the requirements of the Code of Practice and the role of the SENCO in implementing it. Through group work and discussions there will be opportunities to explore: • The role and responsibility of the SENCO. • The role of other staff in the setting in supporting children with SEND. • The processes required to support children once a concern has been raised through following the graduated approach.

To have a clear understanding of the role and responsibilities for the SENCO and staff regarding the SEND Code of Practice.
