Event description
This is a 2nd masterclass led by Jenny Molloy, which explores myths and assumptions surrounding child sexual exploitation. Being a victim of child sexual exploitation herself, she draws on personal experience, policy and practice and the use of Serious Case Reviews.
This event is aimed at all professionals who come into contact with young people, including managers who have responsibility for supervision, policy and decision-making.
Learning outcomes
The learning outcomes for this event are to:
1. Be clear on the definition of child sexual exploitation and understand the different models of child sexual exploitation,
2. Develop a critical and reflective practice when recognising and responding to child sexual exploitation.
3. Gain an understanding of the emotional issues which contribute to grooming being successful,
4. Gain an in-depth understanding of the issues from a care leavers experience,
5. Explore and challenge the common factors and assumptions that make some young people more vulnerable to sexual exploitation, and resistant to accept it as abuse.
