Event description
This 1-day course is for people working in an environment that involves disclosures of sexual violence/ sexual abuse. It Covers: - Barriers to disclosure -Current Sexual Violence Legislation -Discussions About Safeguarding -Information about trauma, flashbacks, and grounding techniques -The support needs of survivors of rape and sexual violence - Services that are available for survivors of rape and sexual violence. Learning outcomes
By the end of this course attendees will:
- Have an understanding of definitions of rape and sexual abuse
- Feel confident to respond to a disclosure of rape or sexual abuse
- Have an awareness of the support referral pathways for rape or sexual abuse
- Have been encouraged to consider the emotional impact that this aspect of their work can have on themselves
- Feel able to discuss coping methods and grounding techniques with their service users.
