TThis thought-provoking course is aimed at helping you to gain an insight into your career development options. We hope these opportunities enable you to fulfil your potential, whether that’s in your current role - building skills and expertise to support your journey to become an outstanding performer, or by considering other career options such as lateral development or promotion.

Taking control of your career is designed as a standalone, self-study package. This course has an accompanying interactive workbook to complete to get the most of the session.

This is a self-study course and you can undertake this course at any time. It can be useful if you have some of your own examples of CVs or past applications that you can work through as you go through this course to provide you with an insight into your approach to your career so far.

You may also find it useful to do with other people that you work with so you can discuss it together. If you wish to do this we recommend putting aside three hours and setting up a MS Teams meeting so you can use the chat function to record important points, questions you have, tips you can share and record any changes you want to make.

It is an approach that can be used for achieving small or large goals, making your life easier and happier, providing clarity and purpose, gaining confidence in your decision making or even at its most advanced level for strategic planning. This is something you can use at a superficial or deep level, it’s up to you. Ultimately, you’ll reap the rewards of all of your efforts – the more you put in, the more you’ll get out of it. As part of this course you’ll learn tools and techniques to create change and to help you gain momentum and inspiration along the way.

This course will help your consider where you are now, your confidence levels, experiences and ideas you can use to create positive change in your career and bring this together through action planning. This has been written as a 100 day programme of change. This day would be the first day and it sets the scene for the changes you may decide to make over the next 100 days.

Work life balance is a phrase originally used at a time when an increasing number of employees were part of the paid workforce, whilst also taking on the majority of the work in the family home. Now the term is used to describe the proportion of time and energy we dedicate to work life and home life. It is linked to our wellbeing and mental health.

This comprehensive course covers what is work life balance and tips to improve your wellbeing through re-balancing work life and demands at home. It considers what work/life balance is, the impact of imbalance in raising stress levels, setting boundaries, delegation, ways to enhance your wellbeing and steps you can take in work to find the balance.

This practice-based course looks in depth at an issue that is commonly encountered by mental health practitioners and social workers and which has no easy answers. It gives an opportunity to review the relevance of the Mental Health Act & Mental Capacity Act, the Care Act 2014 and the involvement of environmental health, and to discuss local issues.

Please note:  there will be a 15 min break AM + PM and at least a 50 min lunch break.
