Code: SGC/21/0328 ADVANCED CHILD PROTECTION

THIS TRAINING SESSION WILL BE DELIVERED VIA ZOOM.

IF YOU ARE A SOUTH GLOS EMLOYEE YOU MUST CONTACT THE IT DEPARTMENT FOR YOUR ZOOM LICENSE.

A training package has been developed to temporarily replace and fulfil the aims and objectives of one day face to face Advanced Inter Agency Child Protection course.
The package includes a remote distance learning element supplemented by a 4 hour online trainer led session.
The training is organised by South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children Board Training Group and is targeted at all staff from all agencies who are working directly with children, or adults who are parents. Effective child protection depends not only on reliable and accepted procedures for all staff involved with children, but also on their skills, knowledge and judgement and the ability to work together co-operatively. Staff with lead roles in child protection require specialised training in order to carry out their work with abused children and families. Please note it is recommended to leave a minimum of 3 months between attending Inter Agency Child Protection and Advanced Inter Agency Child Protection.

Requirements for training:

Participants must be provided with protected time, in an environment free from all work-related duties and distractions to successfuly complete the training.
Participants require access to a camera and microphone to be able to fully engage in the session.
On the day of training, should the above requirements not be possible, participants should rebook for a different date when they are able to meet the requirements, failure to full engage in the session may result in non-issue of certificate and a request to repeat the training session.

Code: SGC/21/1025 Conversations with Carers (Cancelled)

This course will explore the crucial role that carers play as a key partner of Adult Social Care.

We will look at key data about carers, including in relation to some of the challenges that are commonly faced. You will also benefit from the opportunity to reflect on your own experiences, personal and professional, of caring and carers, and to learn from the lived experiences of carers including a guest speaker from South Gloucestershire. The Carers’ Support Centre will share their expertise in relation to working with and supporting carers over many years. Alongside colleagues, you will explore how to apply 3Cs, strengths-based approaches and legal literacy in your engagement with carers in line with South Gloucestershire Council ‘Carer Practitioner Guidance’. A key theme throughout the day will be recognising the positive impact that you, as a practitioner, can have in promoting the rights and wellbeing of carers and as a result, the wellbeing of adult(s) they care for.

Code: SGC/21/0965 FCSG: Parenting Teenagers Support Group

This support group has been set up specifically for carers of teenagers, who may be struggling, or would like to better cope with some of the behaviours that their young people are showing.

The group will be facilitated by Thinking Aloud and will aim to meet once every 6 weeks during term time. The programme will very much be determined by yourselves, as this series of support groups has been set up with you in mind to meet your current needs.

It would be helpful if you could email catherine.charlton@southglos.gov.uk  any particular issues that you would perhaps like covered in advance, as a more detailed programme could be drawn up ahead of the sessions, if we know what the issues are.
