Code: SGC/21/1012 Court Skills for Children's Social Workers (SGC Staff)

Delegates attending this course are called upon to prepare statements and reports for use in court proceedings involving children and to, potentially, attend court to give oral evidence based upon those reports. The course will provide the necessary skills to enable delegates to produce concise, accurate and compelling written evidence and give guidance as to how to present that evidence to best effect in the courtroom. The second day of the course enables delegates to practise giving oral evidence in a formal setting and to be cross examined by our experienced barrister-trainer.

Please consider the use of the attached resources to read prior to the course to further your understanding and support your learning on the training.

Who is the Course aimed at?
Social Workers in Children & Family social care

YOU MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND BOTH DAYS.  YOU CANNOT SWAP BETWEEN COURSES.

Code: SGC/21/1119 Relationship Mapping: Discovering Connections with Every Child

The Early Years have undergone significant changes during Covid-19. The emotional needs and behaviours of our children has informed our priorities, to nurture and co-regulate our children through this turbulent time. This has required secure and trusted relationships and a heightened awareness of connection. The extent of loss our children have endured, including loss of freedom, structure, routine, connections, relationships and even lives, is of particular concern.

What is Relationship Mapping?
A relationship map is a visual representation of the relationships between individuals. Maps can help display the connections (or a lack of connection) between these individuals. Relationship mapping can be used in a multitude of ways in Early Years settings including to look at the quality of the key person, groups of children and/or relationships with staff.

Code: SGC/21/1127 Wellbeing Coaching - South Glos staff only (Sally Norris)

These 50 minute coaching sessions with coaches will assist council staff in coming up with strategies and action plans to maintain and build their wellbeing and resilience. Unlike counselling which provides a safe space to explore worries and concerns, these confidential coaching sessions will help staff come up with individual plans to help them build their resilience, understand what they can do to enhance their wellbeing and overcome current and future obstacles. There are activities and exercises that wellbeing coaches can also give people to work through in their own time if they would find it useful.

Please note these sessions will be delivered by skype or telephone.  Your coach will contact you to confirm the best method for you.
