This network is for Ofsted registered childminders in South Gloucestershire, both new to the role and experienced, who would like to join with other childminders to explore focused topics to gain further understanding of this in practice.

This is an opportunity for Ofsted registered childminders in South Gloucestershire to join together in professional conversation about practice and new initiatives to gain deeper understanding of what is needed to enhance your provision and meet requirements. Across the year a variety of topics will be explored which will enable you to dispel any myths or misunderstandings.

This is a one day course for participants to develop the skills necessary to provide emergency first aid to someone who has an accident or suddenly becomes ill at work. Participants will be trained and assessed during the course in order to receive a certificate. Please note - you will be required to complete 3 practical assessments and a multiple choice test. You need to bring Photo ID eg passport, driving licence. If these are not available please bring your Work ID with photo If you require assistance with reading/writing please let the use know prior to the start of the course.

This course is open only to line managers working for South Gloucestershire Council. Managers are expected to manage the performance of individuals in their team and this isn't always an easy task. This course covers good management practice in a setting where managers are encouraged to learn from each other's experiences and are able to get HR advice on current issues. Connect 5 is an accredited, evidence based mental health training programme relevant to the whole of the public facing workforce.

It provides participants with practical skills and competencies to confidently hold connected conversations about mental health and wellbeing in their routine practice.

It provides tools to empower others to understand, manage and improve their own mental health and resilience.

The Connect 5 Mini Module (3 hours) offers an overview of the core skills, methods and tools used to help participants feel confident engaging in a mental wellbeing conversation with those who are struggling.

Connect 5 takes the position that we don’t need to be mental health specialists to support those who are experiencing emotional and mental health problems. It is based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Five Ways to Wellbeing and Making Every Contact Count.
The course is accredited by the Royal Society of Public Health.

This is a 1-day course focusing on: Functional Posture Management for Occupational Therapists

This course looks at transforming the quality of your approach and how you record that new way of working: your assessments, care plans, visit forms, & all written work will be clear, concise and bring to life what life must be like for each child or young person youÀre working with. To do this the course will show you how to draw on your knowledge from research, experience and practice combined with an understanding of the childÀs needs within their family or the context in which the child lives. It will show you how the facts-analysis-judgement approach works: and how it will help as you move towards the Signs of Safety way of working. This course aims to make you confident in understanding what is relevant and meaningful and then show you how to write that down effectively. The standard charge for this course is £80. This half day workshop aims to provide an opportunity for participants to understand more about the diagnostic category of personality disorder in order to better provide services and support that can make a positive difference to peopleðs lives. It is aimed at all employees and managers of the Statutory, Voluntary and Independent sectors. This is a workshop that is suitable for participants at all levels, mainly as an introduction to the issues, though it can also provide an update for staff who are already trained / more experienced in working with people with a personality disorder. It will draw upon personal experiences of receiving a personality disorder diagnosis and up to date evidence of helpful interventions and approaches. The standard charge for this course is £40. These 50 minute coaching sessions with coaches will assist council staff in coming up with strategies and action plans to maintain and build their wellbeing and resilience. Unlike counselling which provides a safe space to explore worries and concerns, these confidential coaching sessions will help staff come up with individual plans to help them build their resilience, understand what they can do to enhance their wellbeing and overcome current and future obstacles. There are activities and exercises that wellbeing coaches can also give people to work through in their own time if they would find it useful.
