THIS TRAINING IS GOING TO BE DELIVERED VIA ZOOM.

IF YOU ARE A SOUTH GLOS EMLOYEE YOU MUST CONTACT THE IT DEPARTMENT FOR YOUR ZOOM LICENSE.

Staff with lead roles in child protection require specialised training in order to carry out their work with abused children and families. Please note it is recommended to leave a minimum of 3 months between attending Inter Agency Child Protection and Advanced Inter Agency Child Protection.

Requirements for training:

Participants must be provided with protected time, in an environment free from all work-related duties and distractions to successfuly complete the training.
Participants require access to a camera and microphone to be able to fully engage in the session.
On the day of training, should the above requirements not be possible, participants should rebook for a different date when they are able to meet the requirements, failure to full engage in the session may result in non-issue of certificate and a request to repeat the training session.

Code: SGC/21/0188 Coaching Skills

The council promotes the use of a coaching style of management, which empowers staff to take responsibility for their own performance and work. The ability of managers to coach the performance and development of their staff is therefore considered a key skill. The time invested in developing coaching skills can deliver some very positive outcomes, such as, delivering increased motivation, performance and removing barriers and blockers to progression.

Coaching skills can change the way people think about your leadership and you can inspire confidence and self-belief in your team. You have an opportunity to motivate others in a positive and inspirational way. If you aren’t a manager, you can assist and support peers through this collaborative approach to tackling issues. Ultimately it empowers people to perform more effectively and through the tools and techniques you learn on this course you will also find that you become more effective too.

This interactive day will give you a greater understanding of how you can use this simple coaching tool to improve the performance of others. You’ll have a better understanding of what makes people tick and be able to use the techniques to build better relationships with others.
The standard charge for this course is £80 per day although for council employees this course is free to attend.

Code: SGC/21/0445 New Online Breakthrough Mentor Training (Cancelled)

This course is designed to give you the knowledge to become a Breakthrough mentor;
Breakthrough mentoring supports people to develop positive experiences and relationships, enabling them to achieve, grow and develop new skills and to realise their full potential.

So what is a mentor?

A Breakthrough mentor is someone who works alongside a vulnerable person (mentee) to empower them to become independent and live a fulfilled life. They will work individually with the mentee, using activities that engage and motivate them to gain confidence, self-belief and work towards independence.

What type of person are we looking for? Our placements are unique and varied, which requires us to have a diverse group of mentors. You don’t need a set of qualifications, just special qualities that enable you to support your mentee to learn, grow and develop.

We will email out a link to access online training a couple of days before event.

Code: SGC/21/0393 Wellbeing Coaching - South Glos staff only (Sharon Johnson) (EVENT FULL)

These 50 minute coaching sessions with coaches will assist council staff in coming up with strategies and action plans to maintain and build their wellbeing and resilience. Unlike counselling which provides a safe space to explore worries and concerns, these confidential coaching sessions will help staff come up with individual plans to help them build their resilience, understand what they can do to enhance their wellbeing and overcome current and future obstacles. There are activities and exercises that wellbeing coaches can also give people to work through in their own time if they would find it useful.

Please note these sessions will be delivered by skype or telephone.  Your coach will contact you to confirm the best method for you.
