 This half day training course is delivered on behalf of the South Gloucestershire Children's Partnership. The course should only be attended by those who have already completed an Advanced-level of Child Protection training within statutory or setting-related timescales, and who now need to maintain this level of training.

Participants will be expected to have a good working knowledge of safeguarding with experience of statutory and local child protection responsibilities and procedures.
Effective child protection depends not only on reliable and accepted procedures for all staff involved with children, but also on their skills, knowledge and judgment and the ability to work together co-operatively.

Staff with lead roles in child protection require specialised training in order to carry out their work with abused children and families.

The learning outcomes for this training are designed to ensure that all participants receive updates in the latest child protection legislation, statutory guidance, local policies, procedures and professional requirements.

This one-day interactive training course provides excellent foundation knowledge and awareness of how to manage contracts with external providers successfully in order to extract better value-for-money and deliver the desired commercial outcomes. Competence in this area is equally about how to manage intelligently, knowing when to consult with professional colleagues especially when undertaking complex processes such as contractual change, recognising the key drivers that will improve supplier performance and understanding the role and importance of robust contract governance.

The course is ideal for individuals who have accountability for managing third party service providers within the council (including budget holders, contract managers, relationship managers, service delivery managers and procurement practitioners), as well as those that are relatively new to the procurement function.

Please note there is £100 recharge for South Glos employees to attend this course.

This is a one day course for participants to develop the skills necessary to provide emergency first aid to someone who has an accident or suddenly becomes ill at work. Participants will be trained and assessed during the course in order to receive a certificate. Please note - you will be required to complete 3 practical assessments and a multiple choice test. You need to bring Photo ID eg passport, driving licence. If these are not available please bring your Work ID with photo If you require assistance with reading/writing please let the use know prior to the start of the course.

Connect 5 is an accredited, evidence based mental health training programme relevant to the whole of the public facing workforce.

It provides participants with practical skills and competencies to confidently hold connected conversations about mental health and wellbeing in their routine practice.

It provides tools to empower others to understand, manage and improve their own mental health and resilience.

Connect 5 Module 2 (3 hours) continues the learning of core skills, methods and tools used to help participants feel confident engaging in a mental wellbeing conversation with those who are struggling.

Connect 5 takes the position that we don’t need to be mental health specialists to support those who are experiencing emotional and mental health problems. It is based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Five Ways to Wellbeing and Making Every Contact Count.
The course is accredited by the Royal Society of Public Health.

The multi-agency South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Adults Board oversees the Joint Policy and Procedures for Safeguarding Adults in this area. It is essential that a wide range of staff working in local authority, health and social care agencies are fully aware of the key issues in safeguarding vulnerable adults and of how the policy affects them in their front-line roles. The half-day Raising Safeguarding Concerns course is essential training for all front-line staff and managers who are involved in providing services to adults at risk and who work directly with service users. The course content is mapped to the learning outcomes in the local Safeguarding Adults Training Standards (published Dec 2017) as well as to relevant national occupational standards including the Care Certificate (Standard 10). Course attendance is monitored by the Safeguarding Adults Board. The standard charge for this course is £40. Unlike counselling which provides a safe space to explore worries and concerns, these confidential coaching sessions will help staff come up with individual plans to help them build their resilience, understand what they can do to enhance their wellbeing and overcome current and future obstacles. There are activities and exercises that wellbeing coaches can also give people to work through in their own time if they would find it useful.

Please note these sessions will be delivered by skype or telephone.  Your coach will contact you to confirm the best method for you.
