Delegates should attend Dementia Awareness before attending this course. This session is appropriate for everyone who works in social care and whose role requires them to interact and communicate with people who are living with dementia. We consider approaches and practices that will enable us to connect effectively with people who live with dementia. The standard charge for this course is £80 per day. Are you up to date with local and national information relevant to early years? Come and join with other leaders and managers for an informal meeting specifically aimed at supporting the sector. This network meeting will provide an opportunity to receive and share information. Sessions are structured to facilitate and encourage professional discussion and dialogue. Subjects discussed will reflect national and local updates, consultations or imminent changes. Across the year a variety of topics will be explored.

Code: SGC/19/490 Mental Capacity Act (MCA) Training Programme - Module 3: Deprivation and Detainment

South Gloucestershire Council has launched a new interactive training programme that gives Health and Social Care Workers the skills, knowledge, confidence and practice to apply and comply with the Mental Capacity Act 2005. The programme is made up of interactive learning workshops. The new skills and knowledge gained from the workshops are then applied in the workplace and you will send us evidence. You'll be given feedback as you acheive the required good practice and compliance standard of the Mental Capacity Act 2005. The programme is designed for Care Provider managers, Social Worker and Occupational Therapy staff and managers, nurses and all other professionals working in health and social care. You can select from a series of modules as relevant to your job which are listed below.

How the programme works -
You attend a module workshop
You then submit evidence of what you have learned in the workplace (usually within six weeks)
You receive feedback which may be shared with your employer.

Once you have achieved the required standard for compliance and good practice in line with the MCA code of practice you will be awarded a certificate for that module.

Continuing Professional Development
This programme can be used by Social Workers as a basis for Accredited Learning under the South Gloucestershire Council/ University of the West of England Integrated Professional Development Programme.

A one day interactive workshop which builds on the mandatory Recruitment & Selection e-module (Search Events/Online learning), which must be completed before attending this course. The workshop is intended for South Gloucestershire Council employees who are currently recruiting and enables them to design and practice all stages of their recruitment process.
