The training is organised by South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children Board Training Group and is targeted at all staff from all agencies who are working directly with children, or adults who are parents. Effective child protection depends not only on reliable and accepted procedures for all staff involved with children, but also on their skills, knowledge and judgement and the ability to work together co-operatively. Staff with lead roles in child protection require specialised training in order to carry out their work with abused children and families. Please note it is recommended to leave a minimum of 3 months between attending Introduction to Child Protection and Advanced Child Protection.

This network meeting is for pre-school committee members.
Pre-school managers are welcome to come along to these sessions with their committee members.
This support network is an informal opportunity for committee officers to get together and network with others in a similar role, to learn from each other’s experiences, to discuss common issues, and to start to plan for future succession.
This is the third in a series of network meetings. This session will help committee members to gain an understanding of:
• The various government funded childcare grants that are available, such as NEG and Tax Free Childcare
• The South Gloucestershire Provider Portal
• Support available if you are experiencing sustainability problems

The Purpose for the support groups
We realise that fostering can be really difficult at times. Perhaps the only people who really understand it are other foster carers and so therefore we want to give you a place to meet up.
There will be biscuits and/or cake, coffee, tea, and an opportunity for an informal chat at all of the meetings.
Although these will be informal meetings, each session will have a brief agenda, attendance list, and agreed group rules. This is to help those who don’t know anyone and feel awkward about coming along to a new meeting, to feel that they won’t be left alone on the side-lines.
Sometimes there will be speakers and topics as requested by the group, this will hopefully make it as relevant to your fostering as you like.
These sessions should be recorded on your Personal Development Plan (PDP).

The session will explore the importance of legally literacy and defensible decision-making in effective practice. Included will be a focus on:
• defining and developing an understanding of what is meant by both terms, from both a theoretical perspective and from your experience/practice
• ways to continue to develop your knowledge of the legal framework and how to ensure that it underpins your practice
• professional accountability and the importance of accurate analysis, free from bias, to inform your professional opinions and defensible decisions

This is a one day course that raises practitioners awareness to what child sexual exploitation is, what child criminal exploitation is and county lines. It will give practitioners an understanding of what signs to look out for, what contextual safeguarding is and how we are trying to tackle exploitation.

Time to Talk Day is the nation’s biggest mental health conversation. It’s an opportunity for friends, families and communities to come together to talk, listen and change lives. We would like to invite you to join us for tea, coffee and cake.
We have arranged a guest speaker, Paul Field, to come and talk to us about The Art of Brilliance, who specialise in training and development to help people be more positive, motivated, and brilliant! In short, they remind people how to be their best self. This is going to be the start of a package of support from The Art of Brilliance for foster carers, social care staff, and young people.
You can find out more in the meantime at artofbrilliance.co.uk. We want our foster carers to feel able to talk to us any day though, and not just one day a year so the support will continue.
