How will this course help me? Our course will take you through the practical steps of writing clear and concise records and writing sequential, powerful and rewarding reports ° whether they are briefing notes, chronologies, summaries, assessments, care plans, safeguarding investigation reports or court reports. We will show you how to tackle your writing with clarity and confidence. You will understand the importance of: ° defining your purpose; ° organising your evidence; ° thinking and structure; ° writing analytically; and ° presentation. We will also highlight the seven deadly sins of social care writing and recording and show you how to avoid them. The standard charge for this course is £70. Code: SGC/18/188 Mental Capacity Act (MCA) Training Programme - Module 1: Professional

South Gloucestershire Council has launched a new interactive training programme that gives Health and Social Care Workers the skills, knowledge, confidence and practice to apply and comply with the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
The programme is made up of interactive learning workshops. The new skills and knowledge gained from the workshops are then applied in the workplace and you will send us evidence. You'll be given feedback as you achieve the required good practice and compliance standard of the Mental Capacity Act 2005. The programme is designed for Care Provider managers, Social Worker and Occupational Therapy staff and managers, nurses and all other professionals working in health and social care. You can select from a series of modules as relevant to your job which are listed below.

How the programme works -
You attend a module workshop
You then submit evidence of what you have learned in the workplace (usually within six weeks)
You receive feedback which may be shared with your employer.

Once you have achieved the required standard for compliance and good practice in line with the MCA code of practice you will be awarded a certificate for that module. Continuing Professional Development This programme can be used by Social Workers as a basis for Accredited Learning under the South Gloucestershire Council/ University of the West of England Integrated Professional Development Programme

This woman’s leadership development programme seeks to address the under representation of women in management roles within the council through a women’s only programme which builds confidence, informal networks and develops an understanding of women as future leaders. This inspiring and engaging programme is for existing female managers who wish to progress in their careers or aspiring managers and leaders. If this programme interests you but you aren’t sure if it is right for you please give Emily Proom (4213), Emma Ford (4447) or Debra Parsons (8273) a call to discuss this further. Please note: This is a women only programme. If you are interested in management development you may also be interested in our Introduction to First Line Management programme which sets out the foundations of knowledge and skills needed for development within a management role.
