A Pfizer organised Smoking Cessation Conference for stop smoking advisors across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

This conference has external speakers including Dr Calvert (Southmead Respiratory Consultant), Adrian Riley (Team Leader Addiction & Recovery North Somerset Team), and Gay Sutherland (Clinical Psychologist).

There will be a range of topics covered including; Lung Cancer and Smoking, Cannabis and Tobacco Addiction, Treating Tobacco Dependence: What Works? And a look at the Smoking Cessation Pathway review and implementation.

Refreshments and lunch are provided. This full day conference will count as 1 CPD point.

Only advisors who have received the level 2 Stop Smoking Advisor training can attend.

This free course has been developed by the Royal Society of Public Health and aimsto increase the confidence and skills of frontline staff to be effective in having conversations about mental health and wellbeing. It draws on CBT skills and the 5 Ways to Wellbeing in order to help people manage emotional distress and increase their resilience and mental wellbeing through positive changes. It is an incremental three-session programme – Session 1 is a half day, Sessions 2 and 3 are full days.

South Gloucestershire Council Early Years Team are proud to work with Cambium Sustainable, whose courses are organised in units and credits that can make up your qualification.

You have completed your Forest School Level 3 Leaders qualification so can also offer you the opportunity, through additional training, to top up the units and convert your current work to become a Curriculum Outdoor Coordinator.

The Level 3 Award in Co-ordination of an Outdoor Curriculum fits the needs of educational professionals and the EYFS & national curriculum. It focuses on developing practical hands-on skills & a range of activities and experiences to use outdoors, developing your outdoor space and grounds.

Do you want to build on your current training, knowledge and experience and consider how to further develop the outdoor space? Or enhance the clubs that currently happen outdoors in your school or setting? This is an opportunity to build confidence to successfully cascade information across your settings and embed outdoor learning in your setting. This is different to Forest School training taking a whole strategic approach to using outdoor environments for teaching, education and learning.

South Gloucestershire Council has launched a new interactive training programme that gives Health and Social Care Workers the skills, knowledge, confidence and practice to apply and comply with the Mental Capacity Act 2005. The programme is made up of interactive learning workshops. The new skills and knowledge gained from the workshops are then applied in the workplace and you will send us evidence. You'll be given feedback as you acheive the required good practice and compliance standard of the Mental Capacity Act 2005. The programme is designed for Care Provider managers, Social Worker and Occupational Therapy staff and managers, nurses and all other professionals working in health and social care. You can select from a series of modules as relevant to your job which are listed below.

How the programme works -
You attend a module workshop
You then submit evidence of what you have learned in the workplace (usually within six weeks)
You receive feedback which may be shared with your employer.

Once you have achieved the required standard for compliance and good practice in line with the MCA code of practice you will be awarded a certificate for that module.

Continuing Professional Development
This programme can be used by Social Workers as a basis for Accredited Learning under the South Gloucestershire Council/ University of the West of England Integrated Professional Development Programme.
