Code: SGC/18/1188 Raising Aspirations and Attainment in Reading and Writing: Diminishing the Difference in EYFS (SCHOOLS ONLY) (cf)

This course is for all teachers and teaching assistants in Reception as well as EYFS leaders or Pupil Premium leads who want to narrow the gap in reading and writing for disadvantaged children in Reception.

Early education has the potential to drive social mobility and improve outcomes for the next generation. We should not let them down.”
Unknown Children, destined for disadvantage, Sir M Wiltshire

Is your data showing that your disadvantaged children are not achieving in line with their peers in reading and writing? Are you unsure how to support them? How can you identify vulnerability and narrow the attainment gap?

This series of workshops will unpick the attainment of children in receipt of pupil premium and help you to ascertain the breadth of the child’s world and offer experiences that broaden this in order to understand how your teaching can narrow the attainment gap.

We will look at:
Being ACE aware / identifying vulnerabilities
Working with parents / carers
Quality first teaching
Developing reading – beyond the reading assistant
Inspiring and enabling children to write

“For poor pupils the difference between a good teacher and a bad teacher is a whole year’s learning.”
