Code: SGC/21/1011 Court Skills for Children's Social Workers (SGC Staff)

Delegates attending this course are called upon to prepare statements and reports for use in court proceedings involving children and to, potentially, attend court to give oral evidence based upon those reports. The second day of the course enables delegates to practise giving oral evidence in a formal setting and to be cross examined by our experienced barrister-trainer.

Please consider the use of the attached resources to read prior to the course to further your understanding and support your learning on the training.

Who is the Course aimed at?
Social Workers in Children & Family social care

YOU MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND BOTH DAYS.  YOU CANNOT SWAP BETWEEN COURSES.

Code: SGC/21/1035 Light Touch NVR - two part training session for social workers in the fostering and children looked after team.

Description of Light Touch NVR Intervention:

The Therapeutic Parenting Pathway and Thinking Aloud, recently piloted a non violence resistance (NVR) light course for foster carers. We plan to run this group again in September. In line with the principles of NVR we would like to offer supervising social workers (SSWs) the chance to attend a condensed version of the training course. This is so that SSWs are informed of the same principles and techniques that we will be advising foster carers. For more information please contact either Erin Waites at Thinking Aloud (erin.waites@nhs.net) or Sandra and Tracey (TherapeuticParentingPathwayProject@southglos.gov.uk)

Code: SGC/21/0935 Wellbeing Coaching - South Glos staff only (Debra Parsons)

These 50 minute coaching sessions with coaches will assist council staff in coming up with strategies and action plans to maintain and build their wellbeing and resilience. Unlike counselling which provides a safe space to explore worries and concerns, these confidential coaching sessions will help staff come up with individual plans to help them build their resilience, understand what they can do to enhance their wellbeing and overcome current and future obstacles. There are activities and exercises that wellbeing coaches can also give people to work through in their own time if they would find it useful.

Please note these sessions will be delivered by skype or telephone.  Your coach will contact you to confirm the best method for you.
