Event description
This course will allow participants time and space to consider the safeguarding needs of disabled children and provide them with an opportunity to explore ways in which disabled children can be safeguarded from harm.


Learning outcomes

By the end of the course you will have:

• Explored the context within which disabled children are safeguarded, including legislation and guidance.
• Reflected on lessons learnt from safeguarding practice reviews involving disabled children.
• Considered the particular circumstances which may make some disabled children more vulnerable to abuse, including the concept of created vulnerability.
• Identified the signs and indicators presented by disabled children who may have experienced abuse and explored the potential for confusion in interpretation.
• Discussed key features of good practice.
• Considered the factors which may influence the threshold for intervention for disabled children.
• Enhanced your ability to be professionally curious in relation to the lives of disabled children.
