Event description
Holistic Health and Wellbeing – looking at the health of our children and young people from birth to becoming a care leaver.
Not just their physical health but also their emotional and social health. Looking at the sometimes embarrassing conversations around puberty and sexual health
Liz Dando will be leading the Holistic Health Sessions, which will be tailored to the needs of the age groups. They will look at the health of the child, what a health assessment involves, what carers can do to support the child in their care, the role of health visitors and the role of school nurses.
Any questions, call Chris Hill on 07749003099 or email chris.hill@southglos.gov.uk
Learning outcomes
Carers:
* Will know what a health assessment involves,
* Know what to do to support the child in their care
* Understand the role of health visitors and school nurses
As a result of receiving this training, carers will be able to;
1. Identify a range of online resources that are age-appropriate, accessible and relevant to the needs and priorities of children and young people, including how you can use these sites to stimulate conversation
2. Recognise the importance of exploring ‘everyday consent’ so as to build a knowledge foundation ahead of the onset of intimate relationships
3. Identify resources and information sources that can be used to enable children and young people to recognise, in a very practical sense, the boundaries between healthy and unhealthy relationship behaviours (incl. friendship behaviours), including exploring how to respond and who can support
4. Recognising how gendered and sexualised imagery and communication reinforces negative gender stereotypes and gender inequalities – including how this influences friendship and other relationship behaviours
