Event description
Equality, diversity and inclusion is a council priority. This one-hour long session is designed for all council employees and focusses specifically on unacceptable behaviour, why it needs to be challenged and how this can be done.

This session is not an alternative to the mandatory EDI training available for staff. It does recap over some of the areas covered in this training however, it primarily focuses is on what unacceptable behaviour in the workplace might look like, why it needs to be challenged, how this can be done and our responsibility as South Glos Council employees to escalate when appropriate.
Learning outcomes
To understand:


  • what it means to be an equality focussed council

  • key aspects of the Equality Act 2010 and the nine Protected Characteristics

  • what discrimination is as well as other types of unacceptable behaviour in the workplace

  • how unacceptable behaviour can be challenged and an employee’s duty to escalate

  • Our responsibility to escalate and how this will be managed

  • Wider support available.
