Workshop aims:
The core practice introduced and explored during this session is mentalizing as a way of professionals managing their own emotional states and connecting with children and young people through curiosity, empathy and validation. During this session participants will explore the current picture of the mental health problem, put wellbeing and mental health in context, explore intersecting identities and mental health, and how to support wellbeing. Participants will practice self-mentalizing throughout the session, through discussions and exercises as a means to contextualize these ideas and to model the approach.
Designed for: This one day session is designed for anyone who works directly with children and young people, and for those in supervision roles.
