TThis thought-provoking course is aimed at helping you to gain an insight into your career development options. We hope these opportunities enable you to fulfil your potential, whether that’s in your current role - building skills and expertise to support your journey to become an outstanding performer, or by considering other career options such as lateral development or promotion.
Taking control of your career is designed as a standalone, self-study package. This course has an accompanying interactive workbook to complete to get the most of the session.
This is a self-study course and you can undertake this course at any time. It can be useful if you have some of your own examples of CVs or past applications that you can work through as you go through this course to provide you with an insight into your approach to your career so far.
You may also find it useful to do with other people that you work with so you can discuss it together. If you wish to do this we recommend putting aside three hours and setting up a MS Teams meeting so you can use the chat function to record important points, questions you have, tips you can share and record any changes you want to make.
As a result of this workshop you will gain an insight into your career development options, including avenues to explore after the workshop. We hope these opportunities enable you to fulfil your potential, whether that’s in your current role, building skills and expertise to support your journey to become an outstanding performer, or in another career pathway. The learning outcomes for this course are -
• Review your career timeline to date and consider what is important to you when you have chosen roles
• Consider what it means to actively manage your career, the options you have and the choices open to you now and going forward
• Explore the concept of how our strengths and experiences create our “personal brand” and its importance to managing your career and reputation
