‘If at all possible it would be good to have access to the handout during the session – ideally a hard copy where you can make notes’.
Content• Discuss and share ideas and experiences of person-centred practice from our practice – how does it differ from other approaches?
• Engage with and discuss where these ideas originated and the philosophy behind them. We will look at social care and also education and the development of client centred counselling. Why have they been prevalent at different times?
• Become familiar with South Glos’ version of the 3 Conversations Approach and exchange ideas about it, and also how it can be used creatively to best support people in very different circumstances with different levels of need.
• Become familiar with a range of published person-centred thinking tools which can be used within the 3 conversations framework.
• Throughout the day we will identify personal attitudes, professional values and particular practice skills which support person-centred practice. What does it mean to ‘be’ person-centred?
• We will practice positive communication skills which are identified, including person-centred recording of ‘conversations’.
