Event description
Dear Councillors,

Further to the email from Zoe, you are invited to attend a bespoke session for South Gloucestershire Council on operating effectively as an audit and accounts committee. This session will be delivered by Bethan Evans and will cover the following:

• To revisit the role of an Audit and Accounts Committee
• To reflect on the key challenges of operating as a member of the committee
• To review the guidance on the role and functions of an audit committee and its members
• To consider scenarios and examine where the committee can add value to the good governance of the council

As detailed in Zoe’s email, please make every effort to attend this session. It’s a fantastic opportunity for both experienced and new members of the committee. This session will also allow you to consider whether you wish to undertake a skills matrix and an effectiveness review as recommended by CIPFA.
