Event description
Fathers and domestic violence: ideas and reflections on best practice

This session will be a lively, interactive session that will focus on working with fathers where there are concerns about domestic violence.

The workshop is led by Dr Jon Symonds. Jon is a Lecturer in Social Work with Children and Families based at the University of Bristol, where he teaches on the social work programme and researches fatherhood and social work practice.
He is a registered social worker and worked for fifteen years in social care and social work settings in both statutory and non-statutory sectors.
Learning outcomes
The session will draw on recent UK and international research, including opportunities to consider audio recordings of real practice.

Participants will be invited to reflect on their own practice and support each other through discussions, both in pairs and as a whole group.

By the end of the session participants can feel more confident, informed and skilled in their work with fathers in order to improve outcomes for children.
