Event description
Mandatory Adult and Child Safeguarding

This briefing will provide a brief overview of the legislation that gives Local Authorities the duty to carry out safeguarding enquiries, including a look at the terminology that is used. It will cover the definition of an Adult at Risk and the types of abuse that can occur. It will also look at Organisational Abuse and touch on the recent Safeguarding Adults Review that has been published, as well as giving the telephone numbers for people to use if they have concerns about a person or service.

Learning outcomes
The session will cover the following using a combination of power point and group discussion/activities:

• Context and legislation around safeguarding children and adults;
• Local processes and procedures; and
• Emerging and current local safeguarding issues/trends.

This is a mandatory briefing and those councillors who can’t attend either of these will have to apply to Zoe or myself to be given access to a detailed e-learning module instead.
