Event description
Who should attend - All adult social care staff supporting service users/carers who have already attended Module 1 (Understanding Loss in End of Life - an Introduction) or equivalent introductory training in this area. The course is not suitable for people who have suffered a personal close bereavement within the last 12 months. This 1 day course is a follow-on workshop for staff working in a professional care role. It will enable participants to have an understanding of how to meet an individual's care needs and maintain comfort and dignity in the last few days of life. Learning outcomes
- Recognise common signs & indicators of when death is imminent
- Explain the significance of assessment in the last few days of life
- Discuss the principles of providing comfort & essential personal care in an increasingly debilitated & dependant individual
- Identify which care needs are likely to increase in the last few days of life
- Describe practical approaches to providing care & comfort at end of life.
