Event description
This is a 1-day overview for newly-appointed staff working in the council's Children, Adults & Health department. It aims to provide those staff with general information about the department, and is a complement to the ongoing workplace induction process that all new staff should receive from their line manager and team. Staff must also complete the six mandatory e-modules that all new council staff need to undertake, as set out in the guidance on MyHR.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the session participants will have information about: • The current overall context the department is operating in, to give an understanding of some of the main issues for its services • The department’s structures, teams and activities, to give an understanding of the frameworks within which the different roles and service areas operate • The range of expectations the department has of its staff • Where to look for further organisational information. The day will include sessions on the work of the Public Health division, Safeguarding, the Complaints / Compliments process, and Freedom of Information / Data Protection responsibilities.
