This practical course is for people who have an interest in communication, who would like to know about Makaton and learn the signs and symbols for stages 1, 2, 3 and 4.

The Makaton Beginner’s workshop consists of four modules. You will learn Makaton signs and symbols for stages 1 – 4. You will receive a certificate of attendance and booklet which includes signs and symbols when you have attended all sessions.
Once completed you can attend Makaton Networks for continuing professional development, sharing ideas, strategies, signs and symbols.
No previous experience of Makaton is required to attend this course.
Please bring a packed lunch as no lunches will be provided.
Learning outcomes
To develop an understanding through a practical introduction to the Makaton Language Programme.
To learn signs and symbols from stages 1,2,3,4 from the core vocabulary and the additional signs.
To discuss and develop ways in which to use Makaton within everyday situations at home or work.
