Event description
This course is aimed at SENCOs and practitioners working with children with social communication difficulties or with a diagnosis of ASC or children with language delay and short attention spans, who want to explore new ideas to develop small group attention, interaction and participation.

The course will include a brief insight into working with and supporting children with social communication difficulties or ASC. It will explore how a different approach can support children to develop attention skills to support development of children’s spontaneous use of language and follow rules and boundaries in a group activity. This approach is also appropriate for children who are experiencing general delayed language development.

It will provide an introduction into using bucket activities in your setting, and the four stages to develop children’s attention.

There will be lots of practical demonstrations of activities you can experience to inform your practice, and ideas to take back and use.
Learning outcomes
To have an understanding of how some children need a different approach to support developing attention in group situations.

To develop an understanding of the attention bucket process and stages; look at simple resources needed to implement these activities in your setting.
