Event description
Are you new to teaching and working in a Reception class? Are you an experienced teacher and working in EYFS for the first time? Are you an experienced teacher returning to EYFS? Have you either started in or returned to a mixed Reception/Year 1 class?
This programme will reveal the excitement and challenge of working with the very youngest children in school. Through a mix of online materials, face to face sessions and a supported visit to an established Reception Class, this programme will guide you through your first year.
The face to face sessions will provide an opportunity for you to discuss the issues with colleagues and experienced trainers. The online materials will encourage reflection and there will be small practical tasks offered to support classroom practice which will be followed up in face to face sessions.
Face to face 1: How young children learn; Improving and developing the EYFS environment; Identifying next steps in learning.
Online 2: Enabling environment; Observation assessment and planning.
Face to face 3: Meeting the needs of all children; Assessment in the early years.
Online 4: Home learning and working with parents; Transition
There will also be a supported visit to a school with established EYFS practice which will take place before the last face to face session.
Learning outcomes
To explore how to develop an enabling environment for learning to meet the needs of all children.
To further understand the cycle of observation assessment and planning in EYFS.
