Event description
The event will cover the following topics:

Children in Care Team
In July 2024, Petros Careswell, Service Manager for Corporate Parenting, and the Children in Care Team Managers joined us to talk about their plans for the service, which included improving the teams practice in assessing, planning and supporting our children who return home to their parents as well as the importance of good quality transitions for our young people when they reach adulthood.

That meeting identified the usefulness in meeting regularly, for Petros and his team to hear from you about what is working well as well as where there are challenges and areas where improvement is needed. Petros will return with his managers and some social workers from the service to spend some time in groups looking at different areas of our work together and providing space for dialogue, the sharing of ideas and experiences and the opportunity to build on and improve relationships between the teams.

Missing Children & Child Exploitation in South Gloucestershire
Helen Moore and Katie Middleton, our Practice Development Managers, will provide an overview of the Council’s approach to addressing missing children and children at risk of harm outside the home. The current guidance regarding harm outside the home has been subject to independent scrutiny and there are currently task and finish groups looking at the recommendations so there maybe some slight alterations made to the current processes next year. Helen and Katie are keen to hear and understand how the processes work for and include carers and if there is anything that could be done to the current processes to help them feel more involved or supported.

If you are new to our engagement events, here’s what to expect: upon arrival and after grabbing a drink and a biscuit, attendees will be divided into groups. Each group will spend 15 minutes at every stall, allowing you the opportunity to engage in discussions on all topics.
