Reablement - Maximising Independence and Wellbeing

This half-day training workshop is for adult social care staff who are involved in commissioning reablement for adults. The session will provide an opportunity to develop and refresh your understanding of how reablement fits within the wider context of adult social care as a key intervention to: promote independence, wellbeing and positive outcomes for adults and reduce the need for long term care and support. Writing effective ‘Conversation 2 Reablement Plans’ will be a key focus during the training.

The training workshop will be participatory and delivered virtually using MS Teams -1.15pm log on for 1.30pm start – 4.30pm close

Learning outcomes
By the end of the session, you will be able to:



  • Describe the principles of Reablement and how it fits within the wider context of Adult Social Care, nationally and locally, e.g. Care Act, Strengths-Based Approaches, 3 Conversations



  • Articulate the rationale for Reablement and for whom it is an effective intervention to consider and offer



  • Explain how ‘Reablement’ differs from providing ‘care and support’



  • Promote Reablement to adults, carers, family members



  • Write effective ‘Conversation 2 Reablement Plans’, which include SMART, person-centred goals, thereby providing clear guidance to staff from the Reablement providers about how to promote the individual’s independence
