Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing
Connect 5 is an accredited, evidence based workforce training programme. It is an incremental, three-module programme, escalating skills through each session. Participants can choose to take Module 1 only, Module 1 & 2, or Module 1, 2 & 3.
Connect 5 aims to improve population mental wellbeing by changing the way we have conversations about mental health. It provides a collaborative prevention toolkit that promotes psychological knowledge and the development of skills which empower people to take proactive steps to build resilience and look after themselves.
Connect 5 takes the position that we don’t need to be mental health specialists to support those who are experiencing emotional and mental health problems. It underpins the principles of Making Every Contact Count, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Five Ways to Wellbeing.
The course is accredited by the Royal Society of Public Health.
Connect 5 Live Online is an interactive, virtual classroom training course conducted via Zoom.
Please note: Prior to the event, you will be sent an email with course materials and an invitation link to join the Zoom training.
Pre-requisite: Connect 5 Mini or Connect 5 Live-Online Module 1
The aim of Connect 5 is to improve population mental wellbeing by changing the way we have conversations about mental wellbeing.
Brief Mental Wellbeing Intervention:
The intended outcome of session 2 is to change the way you have mental wellbeing conversations so that you have conversations in which you and the person you are talking with develop a shared understanding of their mental wellbeing needs.
By the end of the session you will:
• Apply the five areas model to a wellbeing conversation
• Practice the 3C’s of connected conversation
• Assess the nature and extent of the mental wellbeing issue being presented so that when it is needed we can assist people to access specialist help and support
• Identify with the person the steps they can take to improve their mental wellbeing
• Locate services and resources that support people to improve their mental wellbeing
