Event description
This course is for Ofsted registered childminders, both new to the role or experienced, who would like to develop their knowledge in supporting children’s personal, social emotional development.

This course will provide practical opportunities for exploring this prime area of learning. We will explore:
- The importance of attachment and how this impacts on brain development.
- How children’s anxieties can impact on learning.
- How young children’s behaviours are a form of communicating.
- Strategies to support emotional regulation, intelligence and literacy.

This will be achieved through a mixture of group discussions and practical activities.

By the end of the session you will have gained a better understanding of how young children’s emotional intelligence is a very important part of their ability to learn and develop and will have a range of strategies to support emotional literacy and regulation.

“Listening to babies is necessary to help form and maintain secure attachments to main caregivers which benefits them throughout their lives by helping them to be secure throughout childhood and into adulthood.”
(Alderson 2005)

No charge for Ofsted registered South Glos childminders

For centrally funded courses, if a delegate fails to attend, or fails to cancel at least five working days prior to the start of the course, the setting will be invoiced for a no-show charge – this charge will be £30 if the course is 3 hours or less, or £50 if the course is more than 3 hours.

By booking on to any course directly run by the Early Years Team there is an assumption that you accept the terms and conditions of the no-show policy.
