Event description
This practical and engaging half day course will directly benefit any practitioner working with young people and their families across health, youth, education, criminal justice & social care settings to ‘make every contact count’. Developed in line with best practice, this new approach focusses on the wider issues of substance use, smoking and sexual health. It provides the skills, techniques and tools needed to ask appropriate questions, assess risk, signpost and deliver a brief intervention. This innovative training will enable practitioners to develop their awareness and understanding of:
• Early identification & screening of risky behaviours
• How, why and when to deliver a brief intervention
• How to make the most of the resource pack which includes a tool kit for professionals and an information workbook for young people
Learning outcomes
Practitioners will be able to identify and respond to young people’s risky behaviours in a confident and effective way with practical tools enabling a timely intervention.
