Event description
This 1-day course will enable participants to understand loss and bereavement and its impacts on self and others, as well as exploring good practice in supporting people during the end of life process. You may also wish to attend Module 2 - Providing Care & Comfort at End of Life. The standard charge for this course is £80 per day.  Please refer to our Course Charges on the Home page for information on discounts and exemptions.
Learning outcomes
- Understanding Loss: explore the experience of loss; identify losses associated with illness and change.
- Impact of loss on individuals & families: consider impact on individuals thoughts, feelings & behaviours; explore the impact on families including in bereavement.
- Recognising the needs of individuals experiencing distress: recognise what individuals need; identify helpful and supportive responses.
- Communication - responding to distress: identify key communication skills (verbal & non-verbal); consider communication skills in relation to role & responsibilities.
