Event description
This course is aimed at anyone new or developing their outdoor skills, or those who have knowledge and want further inspiration to develop an all year round outdoor practice.
As summer develops we will look at how play and learning outdoors links in with this season.
We are often outdoors more at this time of year but what are children actually learning? And how can we support their experiences and play? We will introduce basic outdoor and woodland skills, simple tools, identifying risks, hazards and benefits to help you starting to develop your own practice in the natural environment. We will explore ideas to develop your confidence and knowledge working with children outdoors in the elements that the great British weather throws at us.
We will be outside whatever the weather. Waterproofs, stout walking boots/welly boots and warm clothing is advised.
This is the fourth of four standalone sessions offered throughout the academic year, based on the seasons.
Learning outcomes
To be able to develop and share experiences and activities when working outdoors with children during the winter season.
To extend personal confidence and understanding working outdoors in nature with young children and to be able to cascade this within the setting.
