Event description
This course is for practitioners, room leaders or SENCOs who would like to develop language intervention groups to support children in their setting.

Research is telling us that children are entering school with lower levels of language than ever before. The current government drive is to improve the language levels of children before they enter school.

How do we achieve this in a busy pre-school setting?

This session will explore the key role of a language intervention group in supporting a child’s vocabulary and conversation skills. It will provide practitioners with practical strategies that can be used with all children through continuous provision.

We will also look at using assessments to plan targeted interventions.
Learning outcomes
To understand why language intervention groups are beneficial to children’s development.

To explore how to measure and evaluate children’s speech and language development so that intervention is much more targeted.

To explore a wide range of activities that can be used with an intervention group.
