This course is suitable for childminders, newly appointed SENCOs and assistant SENCOs who need to understand the role of the SENCO. SENCOs who would like a refresher course in order to become more familiar with the process would also benefit from this course.

As a new SENCO, the SEND Code of Practice can appear to be daunting and challenging. This half-day course will help you to develop your understanding of the requirements of the Code of Practice and the role of the SENCO in implementing it. Through group work and discussions there will be opportunities to explore:
The role and responsibilities of the SENCO
The role of other staff in the setting in supporting children with SEND
The processes required to support children once a concern has been raised through following the graduated approach
