Event description
This half-day session will provide an overview of the issues relating to people with autism who come in to contact with the Criminal Justice System. A basic understanding of autism is required for this course. Course overview:  Why people with autism might be victims of crime.  Susceptibility to mate crime  Why people with autism may offend  Strategies to support people with autism when they come in to contact with the criminal justice system The standard charge for this course is £35. Learning outcomes
 Gain an understanding of how the features of autism may make people more vulnerable to abuse or to offending behaviour.
 Develop an understanding of social vulnerability and people with autism.
 Understand the types of strategies that can help support someone with autism who comes in to contact with the criminal justice system as a victim, witness or perpetrator.
 Gain an understanding of the requirements of the autism strategy, Think Autism, in relation to the criminal justice system.
